Origins
From Studio KO
to IAAC Barcelona
MAT Studio was founded by an architect whose path traces a deliberate arc between raw craftsmanship and radical technology. It began at Studio KO, working on the Aman Diriyah project in Saudi Arabia — where ancient building traditions, hand-finished plaster, and monumental stone met the demands of world-class luxury hospitality.
That immersion in material truth led to the Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia (IAAC) in Barcelona, pursuing a Post-Master in 3D Printing Architecture — exploring how computational design and robotic fabrication could extend, rather than replace, the intelligence embedded in traditional construction.
MAT Studio is the synthesis of these two worlds. Rooted in France, operating between Paris, Tours, and international projects, the practice carries the conviction that the most powerful architecture emerges when ancestral know-how meets the frontier of digital making.

This duality — deeply rooted in earth, stone, and concrete, yet reaching toward 3D printing, computational design, and parametric fabrication — defines every project we undertake. We do not choose between tradition and innovation. We bridge them.
